The person who answers the phone doesn't speak English.
My request to set up an appointment was met with an unintelligable response, that included "we're not available". Really? Then why bother to advertise?
Thankfully, I found someone else who actually WANTS the work and who understands my questions!

Brian A came to service my Generac generator on 7/27/2021 @ 9:30 am. It was the first time and he really did a through job. He was on time, courteous, professional & pleasant. Explaining the inner working & what I should do if power goes out for more than 24 hours. Taught how to check & add oil if needed; what steps to perform first. My wife and I have been trying to set up an appointment to get an estimate for a generator installation for over three months without success. With each follow up call (4 to date), the story remains the same. Their estimators are very busy and doing their best to get to everyone. A little disappointing for a multi-generational business. I would have appreciated their honesty if they had just let me know that they are not capable of handling their current demand. It would make the waiting more manageable.

Don't waste your time...they are not interested in your business. I went through the process of setting up an in-home estimate and got a chance to meet with one of their Sales and Service Representatives (Doug) - he was very easy to talk to and at least walked and talked like a professional. I was optimistic.

From there, things went downhill quickly. I received the quote from Doug, and then as soon as I had a question about the pricing, he went radio silent. After sending a follow-up email, and then calling Doug on both his cell phone and his office line, I became fed up and left a message with the company answering service stating that I was having an issue getting a contract executed, and that I would like to speak to the owner to get the issue resolved.

It seems the owner, like Doug, has neither the courage nor the professionalism to actually speak to a customer when something has gone wrong...how do you think that translates to the installation and ongoing service they provide? They try to sell you this "family owned", "hard workin' folks" fairy tale - don't fall for it. They don't care about you, or your business - especially if you're just a simple home owner trying to protect your family through the winter.

I feel like I really dodged a bullet, as I was about to use this same company to install and service generators for my 10+ businesses across NY and NJ. I've worked with contractors and vendors across all types of trades, and I'm happy I get to give the money to a professional company vs. this clown show of a business.

Note: I sent in an RFP to outfit my businesses using my work contact information and, not surprisingly, the owner seems to have all the time in the world to correspond with me when a six-figure contract is on the line. Thanks for really punctuating the way your company does business, Michael.

Jamie was on time (early actually); very, very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to determine and correct issue. Also provided information on what to look for in case of future problems. Went above & beyond!! Company is very reliable; would highly recommend them.

Our family had a very bad experience with this company, and we want everyone to be aware of it. Hopefully, this awareness will help you to save money and time.
We have our generator installed 6 years ago, by another company, and all those years it was working fine.
This year in springtime Generac sent us a postcard with a recall, so we called Benson Ver Hage Electric to follow with the repair required by that recall, and to perform the maintenance on the generator at the same time. After their first visit, which cost us $836, everything went down the heel - generator stopped working after the second-week test run. Of course, we couldn’t prove that it happened because of the maintenance they did even though it looked like it. Anyway, we called them multiple times, they were very busy with lots of calls from Northern NJ due to hurricane-related power losses, and after several weeks we finally got someone to come and check our generator, and informed us, that we need to replace a cylinder head, or in worse case even to replace entire cylinder...After that, it took again several weeks and several calls to schedule the next appointment to fix the generator.
This one was a complete failure – instead of fixing the generator, the technician started again from reviewing the previously identified problem, and noticed that he does not have with him cylinder head, and told us that the generator would need a new engine, since they are not able to replace a cylinder, and it will roughly cost us around 2200 dollars for them to replace it.
At the same time, we received a bill for the first visit – 200 dollars.
When we saw that bill, we realized, that if we are dealing with such a company, we soon will be getting the second one for the second visit. And that exactly what happened in a week. After multiple calls to the Customer service and Billing department, we finally reached the owner of the company, and he graciously authorized to waive the cost for the second visit.
So, we decided to call another company after we had already paid this company more than 1000 dollars, and our generator was still broken.
Guess what, another company immediately sent a technician and provided us with a free estimate. It turned out there is no need to replace the entire engine. The cylinder head was obtained and replaced within one week, and it did not cost us 2200!
Too bad we didn’t call that second company the first time around - we definitely would save lots of time and money.
Please think twice before giving your business to Benson Ver Hage Electric company – they are far away from being professional and honest with their clients.

We have a 22/27k Generac Stationary Generator which needed to be repaired. We called Benson due to the fact that another repair service misdiagnosed the issue . This other company was another Generac trained company! We called the morning, the day before a blizzard and they were extremely busy. The technician, Andre and his crew, made the necessary repairs late at night as the storm began. This is a wonderful company, Glen, the owner, was in communication with me throughout the evening. Andre and his crew discovered the problem immediately, never complained about the weather and worked diligently. Andre had it fixed and by midnight we were up and running.
